Kathryn & Joseph

This love story is truly one of the Lord's faithfulness, goodness, and perfect timing. Kathryn & Joseph first met in Mankato, MN when they kept running in the same friend circles. Joseph, although from the area, had been discerning religious life in Italy for many years. Kathryn came to Mankato for school and quickly got plugged into the Newman Center on campus. Shortly after they started officially dating, Kathryn accepted a position as a FOCUS missionary and they began dating long distance while Kathryn served in Ohio. Even during their engagement season, they were still 2+ hours apart, navigating long distance and deepening their relationship. Although it was difficult, Kathryn & Joseph each spoke of the beauty of waiting, purification, and graces that flowed through that time. The joy of their wedding day was so evident as we all celebrated this beautiful couple and the Lord’s gift.

Wedding Theme

Spring. Light blues. Greenery. Timeless. Elegance. Sacredness.

A few of my favorite things...

The DRESS (and the story behind it) - After getting engaged, Kathryn began to think about wedding dresses. Her ideal wedding dress was a thrift find. She wanted something timeless and classy. After learning that her grandmother still had her wedding dress (about 70 years old!), Kathryn immediately knew that it was the one. In God's Divine Plan, the dress fit her perfectly and only needed a clean and freshening. Not only was the style exactly what Kathryn had hoped for, but the special significance of having her grandmother's original dress added an extra layer of special meaning. The whole outfit really came together when her aunt mentioned her other Grandma still had her veil (also over 70 years old!). Kathryn was able to honor both of her grandmothers and be connected with them on her wedding day. The way God's plan came together is amazingly beautiful!

Holy Family Icon - Kathryn's FOCUS Missionary Team gifted the couple this beautiful Holy Family Icon as a wedding gift. I love the beautiful significance of having it a part of their ceremony and now they can have it has a piece of religious art to hang in their home.

Pro Tip: Add religious items to your wedding registry! This is also an opportunity for you to set up your domestic Church as a new family. Consider adding items like icons, a crucifix, advent wreath, religious art, or nativity set.

Bridesmaid Dresses - Ladies, floral dresses are SO FUN! Having extra pattern really adds a pop with your pictures and also personality and fun for your bridesmaids. I've seen this trend for awhile and it's not going anywhere. Textures, colors, patterns, and styles are so fun to mix and match within your wedding party.

Brunch Reception - Kathryn & Joseph had an early morning wedding, followed by a brunch reception. Quiche, Breakfast Potatoes, Fresh Fruit, Pastries, ... Mimosas! What's not to love about brunch? I loved the creativity and unique reception idea. This was my first brunch reception and it was really fun!
