Embarking on your wedding planning adventure is exciting but also overwhelming. You probably have never planned a full wedding before! There are countless details that need to be organized and communicated. There are many decisions that you will need to make about every single aspect of your day. It can be easy to let some of the smaller (but also important!) details slip through the cracks or be completely missed. You want a day that is a beautiful experience for everyone involved. Make sure these items are covered in your plan to ensure the most amazing day!
Ceremony Details
Since this is the most important part of your wedding day, I encourage couples to spend the majority of their planning time on decisions regarding the liturgy, music, readings, decor, and logistics of the Mass. Enjoy this incredible opportunity to create a whole liturgy that is uniquely YOU and celebrates your marriage!
Design a program that allows your guests to participate in Mass.
Mic your voices during the vows (Your guests want to hear your profession of vows - it's the big moment!).
Have a table ready for your flowers for Mary.
Add your own personalized petitions. Use this as opportunity to pray for family or friends by name - couples preparing for marriage, expecting couples, deceased family members, etc.
Choose a patron saint for your relationship.
Photo Details
Help your photographer be prepared and ready for your day.
Organize Your Flat Lay Details. Have all your special little items in a box or bag that is easy to transport and hand over to your photographer.
Create A Photography Shot List that includes your desired photo combinations with the names of each person included in the group.
Think about sunset time in regards to your timeline. Each month of the year will have a different sunset time. This can greatly affect your timeline, especially if sunset falls in the middle of your cocktail or dinner time.
Vendor Details
Your vendors keep your wedding day flowing from start to finish. Each vendor comes together to make sure you have everything you need. Don't forget to show your vendors extra love on your wedding day.
Remember to count your vendor in for meals.
Designate assigned seating for your vendors at a reception table, or even a separate room where they can store their equipment, take breaks, and eat their meal.
Have thank you notes and gratuities ready for your vendors. Your wedding coordinator can hand these out.
Finalize Cash Payments prior to your wedding day. Your coordinator can make sure these are given to the right people.
Personal Details
Please please please take care of yourself on your wedding day. You want to be at your best to fully experience all the moments. Here's a couple reminders for you!
Eat a Hearty Breakfast (think high quality proteins and whole foods).
Drink Water. Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.
Break in your wedding shoes (Ideally a few weeks before your wedding day).
Create an emergency kit. Better to be prepared!
Post Wedding Details
As your wedding coordinator and/or family and friends are cleaning up at the end of the night, it is so helpful to have a plan of where items are going or who is responsible for taking them home.
Are you saving any wedding cake? Who is taking the top of your cake or extra desserts?
Is the florist coming back for extra vases or decor? Do you want guests to take home floral arrangements? Do you want to keep one for yourself as a keepsake?
Who is responsible for taking your wedding gifts at the end of the night?
Pro Tip: Remember to pack the bag for your wedding dress and have it in your hotel room for the next day!
Stay organized, rely on your wedding coordinator, and trust the process. With an attention to detail, and the expertise of others you won't forget these commonly overlooked important wedding details.
